Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status with his folk-based pop songs with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. He later moved to Aspen. Many people took the road through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its initial member in the year 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado to the many people across the globe. While traveling, I may meet people at the other end of the world. Like, for instance, an individual who is from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're Colorado-based, Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time in small Folk Music Groups. The track was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized the song would be an instant hit in the top 10. Just a few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd in Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
