Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma was just six when she realized she wanted to become an actress. She was trained for many years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting and singing. At the age of ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these characters. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's screen debut took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in the year 2001. The film broke all records in terms of the opening weekend and numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics, as were the performances of its three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma was later awarded five prizes in recognition of her work in the movie.
